REALTOR Market Index up for 3rd straight month in October

Today we issued the results of the October 2011 REALTOR(R) Market Index (RMI) and the REALTOR(R) Price Index (RPI). The RMI was up 24.71% from the October 2010 RMI. This is the 3rd straight monthly year-over-year increase since March-May 2010. On a month-to-month basis the October RMI was up 19.61% from September.  The REALTOR(R) Price Index was up 1.67%  from October 2010 and also up from this past September.

This month’s “Hot Topic” question asked REALTOR(R) members about activity with their under-30 buyer clients as a result of historically-low interest rates and more affordable home prices.

Here are the highlights:

* REALTOR® Market Index in October was 25.88. Up 25.88% from the same time last year
* REALTOR® Market Index in Ocotober was up 19.61% from October
* REALTOR® Price Index in October was 43.75.  Up 1.67% from the same time last year
* REALTOR® Price Index in October was up 17.04% from September
