We are now accepting applications for the 2012 Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award. The deadline to enter is August 3, 2012.
The award program is open to all Massachusetts REALTORS®. See below for more details, but this isn’t a time to be shy! (ok, if you are shy, ask someone to nominate you). If you have done something worth recognizing, you should enter. Remember, it’s all about your charity (and they will receive a grant if you do win!)
About the Award:
In 2004, the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® (MAR) established the Good Neighbor Awards program to recognize REALTORS® for their community activism. The award is to be presented annually to those who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to community service through volunteerism and civic and charitable contributions that improve the lives of local residents and make their community a better place to live.
Entrants for the award may engage in a broad range of eligible activities that might include, but may not be limited to, volunteer work involving affordable housing issues, educational programs, youth-related activities, or any other civic or charitable activity that improves the lives of local residents or the community at-large.
NAR Data issues
You might have heard that the National Association of REALTORS(R) is re-stating their closed sales data going back to March 2011. We wanted to let you know that our statewide data is NOT impacted by these issues. MAR President Laurie Cadigan explains the reasons in her podcast and you can check out this link to a Q&A from NAR on the reasons why they are re-benchmarking their data.
Highlights from the release:
* Single-family home sales were up 13.15% compared to last year
* Single-family median prices were down 3.9 %
* Condo sales were up 6.51% compared to the same time last year
* The median price for a condo was down 6.47% compared to last year
Today we released our November 2011 pending home sales report and for the seventh straight month single-family pending sales were up over the same time last year. Condominium pending sales were also up from last year. On a month-to-month basis single-family pending home sales were down and condo pending sales were up less than half of one percent.
