Mass. REALTOR(R) Market Index up again in January for 6th straight month

Today we issued the results of our January 2012 REALTOR(R) Market Index (RMI) and REALTOR(R) Price Index (RPI). For the 6th straight month the RMI was up over the same time last year. On a month-to-month basis the RMI was up compared to December 2011.

The REALTOR(R) Price Index was down compared to both the same time last year and from December.

Hot Topic:
This month’s “Hot Topic” question asked REALTOR(R) members to predict what would happen with inventory in 2012 (i.e. the number of homes for sale).

Here are the highlights:

* REALTOR® Market Index in January was 31.9. Up 51% from the same time last year
* REALTOR® Market Index in January was up 12.7% from December 2011
* REALTOR® Price Index in January was 46.0.  Down 1.4% from the same time last year
* REALTOR® Price Index in  January was down 5.2% from December 2011
