Mass. median home prices up for first time in seven months as sales continue positive run

Today we released our April 2012 sales report and for the first time in seven months, single-family median prices went up. It’s the real first significant increase since November 2010 and the end of price appreciation that resulted from the home buyer tax credit.

April was the 10th straight month, home and condo sales were up compared to the same time last year! Condo sales and median prices were up as well. (see graphs below – click on them to enlarge)

Highlights from the release:

* Single-family home sales were up 18.3% compared to last year
* Single-family median prices were UP 2.7%
* Condo sales were up 10.2% compared to the same time last year
* The median price for a condo was UP 3.0% compared to last year






REALTORS(R) from Massachusetts and across the country were in Washington D.C. last week to meet with their members of Congress to discuss a number of real estate issues.
