What’s your definition of a ‘Good Neighbor’

For most of us, the definition of a good neighbor is someone who is there to give you a hand with yard work or lend you a cup of milk.  When it comes to describing Wendy and John Rocca of Century 21 Commonwealth in Watertown, MA that definition falls several thousand miles short.  As the founders of Operation American Soldier (OAS), the Roccas have taken the concept of being a good neighbor to thousands of men and women serving in the military overseas.  OAS sends “cheer packages” and letters of support to soldiers who would otherwise most likely leave mail call empty handed.  Because of this effort, Wendy and John were named one of 10 national finalists for REALTOR(R) Magazine’s 2010 Good Neighbor Awards.

We will find out in November if John and Wendy are one of the five winners who will be named REALTOR Magazine 2010 Good Neighbor Award winners and receive a $10,000 grant for Operation American Soldier.

As of the end of June, OAS has shipped over 30,000 pounds of packages to US servicemen and servicewomen.
